December’s Recommended Reading: The Comfort Book

It took all my restraint not to share December’s book early because I love it so much. The Comfort Book by Matt Haig is like a hug in book form, and that’s why it was so easy to choose it as December’s recommended reading. Who doesn’t need an extra hug or dose of hope this time of year? I think what I love about Matt Haig is that he’s deeply personally acquainted with the hard parts of life, and because he’s so acquainted with suffering, the hope and light and appreciation of life that he shares are so bright and real.

This book is not fiction. His novel The Midnight Library was my favorite book of 2020, and I’m excited to read more from him. The Comfort Book kind of a collection of personal stories and thoughts, quotes he likes, meaningful anecdotes, etc. You can sit down and read it all at once, or you can read bits at a time whenever you’re in the need of some wisdom and hope.

I haven't listened to this on audio myself, but I've heard that it's excellent in that format, too. If you're not done with your holiday shopping, this would be a great gift.
